A batch controller (or sometimes called batch meter) works with a flow meter, allowing the user to control pumps, actuators etc to fill a predefined batch volume of liquid to a process/tank. Comac Cal Flow 38B is a simple, robust system that works with a range of flow meters also available from Fluidic. Typically a flow meter will give pulses to the batch meter to count volume.
Operation is simple. The user can adjust the batch size by turning a knob on the front of the batch controller. To start operation a simple, robust green push button triggers a relay output to open a valve actuator etc and start flow. Upon completion of the batch, the Comac Cal 38B simply closes the switch and therefore the actuator. There is a red emergency stop button to close the relay at any time during the batch. If the batch has been paused, the entire incomplete batch is zeroed and the unit is ready for restarting the batch again from the beginning using the green button. This allows the user to readjust batch volumes mid process.
