Katronic KATflow 170 is a clamp on instrument for measuring liquid flow rate in hazardous environments. This is a fully Ex compliant instrument, certified to ATEX Exd regulations for zone 1 and 2 environments. The Katronic KATflow 170 is particularly suited to aggressive offshore applications, with enclosures in stainless steel or epoxy coated, copper free aluminium. The instrument is also suitable for environmental conditions from -20…+60degC and has IP68 rated encapsulated measurement transducers manufactured from stainless steel.
As with all Katronic clamp-on flow meters, the KATflow 170 is equipped with an audible sensor positioning assistant. The technology behind Katronic flow meters is time-of-flight. This involves in sending and returning an ultrasonic pulse between both sensors. In a zero flow line, the time to send and return is equal. In the direction of flow, the time to send the pulse is quicker than to return against flow. This send/return time difference is proportional to flow velocity allowing the flow meter to determine velocity and calculate volumetric flow against line diameter. The audible positioning assistant ensures accurate and simple installation to ensure you have the absolute best accuracy of measurement possible
