VEGACAL 63 Capactive level sensor measures the liquid level in a tank or storage vessel. In many installations, capactive technology offers no measurement deadband and a very low minimal measurement distance, making the VEGACAL 63 ideally suited to small tank applications.
Capacitive level sensor measurement principal
The capacitive level probe, the liquid under measurement and the storage vessel wall form an electrical capacitor. The capacitance is influenced by three main factors.
The probe and the vessel wall are the capacitor plates. The measured product is the dielectric. Due to the higher dielectric constant of the product compared to air, the capacitance increases as the probe is gradually covered. This capacitance, as well as the resistance change, are converted by the VEGACAL 63 into a level-proportional signal.
